Dr. Cadag goes to Korea for Capacity Building for Higher Education Policy Training Program

Dr. Charlito P. Cadag, President of the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, was chosen by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) as one of the selected state universities and colleges (SUC) presidents in the Philippines to attend in the โ€œCapacity Building for Higher Education Policy-Policy Making Course Trainingโ€ that KOICA has sponsored for 14 days.

The training program, which aims to share Koreaโ€™s experiences in policy-making and strengthen Koreaโ€™s partnerships with participating countries, was held at Silla University, South Korea from October 6-19, 2019.

During the first day of the training, Dr. Cadag and his fellow participants were enlightened by the first lecture on โ€œUnderstanding of Establishment and Operation on Korean University Education Policyโ€ by Prof. Kim SeonJu. The second lecture was about โ€œAn Understanding of the Quality Management System of University Educationโ€ by Prof. Lee EunHwa.

Furthermore, after the third lecture conducted by Prof. Lee BeomJin, about โ€œAn Understanding and Performance of LINK+ National Project,โ€ the participants had their field visit at the Silla University Dron Training Center and Prospects Control Center. After which, they proceeded to Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Korea Maritime Institute, National Maritime Museum for another visit, and then to Kyungil University LINK+ Project Team and Railway Academy, with Prof. Kim Hyeon Woo.

Dr. Cadag and his fellow attendees were able to go to Bulguksa and Seokguram in Gyeongju, Skywalk of the 5th Parallel, United Nations Memorial Cemetery, and International market as well, for a cultural experience.

On October 14, 2019, they had a lecture on โ€œManufacturing and Using the Contents of e-Learning Classesโ€ with Prof. Lim Won-young.

They also had a workshop on โ€œStatus Analysis and Problem Identification, GAP Analysis Exerciseโ€ facilitated by Prof. SeungHee Kang.

The following day, October 16, 2019, they had their fifth and sixth lectures, about โ€œA Case and Application of University Student Support Programโ€ and โ€œIntroduction to Certification Assessment System and Status of Korean Universitiesโ€ tackled by Prof. Kang and Prof. Kwon SunGook, respectively. Moreover, Prof. Hong Hyo-jung shared his expertise about โ€œUniversity Education Innovation Based on MOOC and Flipped-Learningโ€ during the seventh lecture. In the afternoon, the participants had another field visit in Pusan National University: Center for Teaching Learning with Prof. Kim Eunjung.

On October 17, 2019, two days before the departure of the participants, two workshops dubbed as โ€œCreate Action Planโ€ and โ€œPresentation of Results, Create and Share e-Learning Contentโ€ facilitated by Prof. Kang were attended by the participants. The completion ceremony, done on the same date, was held at the Grand Hotel, Haeundae.

KOICA, established in 1991 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea, is a governmental organization for Official Development Assistance (ODA) to enhance the effectiveness of South Koreaโ€™s grant aid programs for developing countries by implementing the governmentโ€™s grant aid and technical cooperation programs.

The partnership between KOICA and CSPC has been formalized in 2015, a few months before the in-country training of Ms. Lee Yong Sook, the first Korea Overseas Volunteer (KOV) assigned in the College.
