CAS DevCom and English Language Studies students join 3rd Bicol Social Media Summit

Students from the Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BS DevCom) and AB English Language Studies programs of the CSPC-College of Arts and Sciences, attended the 3rd Bicol Social Media Summit held on September 6, 2025, at Villa Caceres Hotel, Naga City.

The event, โ€œMastering the Digital Current: Exploring Bicolโ€™s Social Media Creativity for Sustainable Growth,โ€ gathered participants from various schools, local government units, government offices, and media organizations. Cheron Multimedia Production spearheaded it in cooperation with the National Press Club and the Bicol Press Club.

The summit featured keynote messages, panel discussions, and interactive talks from media practitioners and experts including Mariz Umali, Filipino news anchor and journalist from GMA7, who spoke about handling and decoding information under pressure; Dr. Lizel Macatangay, Assistant Regional Head of PIA5, who discussed countering disinformation; Dr. Eddie Mahilum, CEO of Skyscrapers International, who tackled social media for business opportunities; Junino Padilla, radio and TV host, who emphasized ethics and fact-checking; and Brydel

Basil Elizan, Agency Head of Online Creatives Solutions Marketing, who shared insights on social media in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
The summit became a valuable opportunity for the students to learn about the power of social media, its role in promoting responsible communication, and its potential for professional growth.V C
