Three CAS Language Faculty earn distinctions in Graduate Studies

Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) proudly celebrates the academic achievements of three distinguished faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)โ€” Dr. Janessa Angustia Martinez-Malaya, Mr. Elbert O. Baeta, and Ms. Nicky Gem M. Riveraโ€”who have successfully completed their graduate programs with honors in their respective fields of specialization.

Dr. Janessa Angustia Martinez-Malaya, a faculty member in the English Language Studies program, earned her Doctor of Philosophy in English Language Education from Partido State University. Her dissertation, titled โ€œIrigueno Idiosyncrasy: Morphological Structure of the Bikol-Iriga Language,โ€ explored linguistic diversity and structural nuances of a local Bikol variant. She was also recognized for Excellence in Oral Defense, a testament to the rigor and relevance of her scholarly work.

Meanwhile, Mr. Elbert O. Baeta, MA, and Ms. Nicky Gem M. Rivera, MA, both Literature instructors under the AB English program, graduated with high academic distinction from the University of Santo Tomas Graduate School.

Mr. Baeta received the Meritissimus honor for his masterโ€™s thesis, โ€œThe Ragang Rinaranga of H. Francisco V. Peรฑones Jr. as Marxist Critique of the Ragaโ€, which offered a critical literary perspective on contemporary Bikol literature.

On the other hand, Ms. Rivera was awarded Benemeritus for her compelling thesis, โ€œPagsasatubuanan as Rendering of Positionality and Emotional Geography of Jocelyn Bisuna,โ€ reflecting her deep engagement with feminist and geographic narratives in literary texts.

The entire CAS community lauds the trio for their academic excellence and contributions to local knowledge and language studies. Their success not only brings pride to CSPC but also strengthens the collegeโ€™s commitment to advancing research, language, and cultural preservation in the Bicol Region and beyond.
