CSPC CAS hosts its First National Arts and Sciences Research Congress

With the theme โ€œCultivating Academic Synergy Across Arts and Sciences,โ€ the College of Arts and Sciences of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges brought together scholars across the country for the 2025 National Arts and Sciences Research Congress (NASRECON), held virtually via Zoom on February 6-7, 2025.

A total of 279 students and professionals participated in the two-day virtual conference. During the opening program, Dr. Jean E. Cardiรฑo, Chief Administrative Officer of CHED Region V, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the critical role of the humanities, creative arts, sciences, and social sciences in addressing contemporary challenges in an ever-evolving world.

Dr. Shirley N. Dita, Associate Professor at De La Salle University (DLSU), discussed the significance of World Englishes and Corpus Linguistics in language and communication. Meanwhile, Dr. Frederick Talaue, also from DLSU, explored the aesthetic experiences in science and mathematics. Following their presentations, both plenary speakers engaged with the audience in a dynamic Q&A session.

In the afternoon, parallel sessions covering six (6) thematic areas featured paper presentations by scholars, which judges from CSPC, and other institutions evaluated. On the second day, sessions continued with presentations under five (5) thematic areas.

During the closing program, awards for Best Papers and Best Oral Presenters were conferred for each thematic area. CAS-CSPC has already begun preparations to hold the next NASRECON earlier next year.

โ€œThe number of participants was overwhelming. I didnโ€™t expect such a high turnoutโ€”nakakatuwa! As the convener of this national event, I am committed to continuing this best practice of CSPC CAS. I look forward to seeing this event held face-to-face in the coming years,โ€ said Dr. Marlon S. Pontillas, Dean of CAS and NASRECON Convener.

NASRECON 2025 was officially endorsed by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) through PASUC Advisory No. 183, s. 2024.
