Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges conducted a webinar on Syllabus Design and Table of Specifications (TOS) Orientation for its faculty and stakeholders on January 13, 2025. The event aimed to strengthen outcomes-based education (OBE) practices by equipping participants with advanced knowledge in syllabus design, assessment alignment, and instructional material development.
The webinar attracted a total of 315 participants, including parents, alumni, students, and CSPC faculty members. The event opened with an inspiring welcome message from Dr. Jocelyn O. Jintalan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who emphasized the significance of enhancing syllabus design to align with institutional goals. Dr. Amado A. Oliva Jr., SUC President III, further reinforced the importance of academic innovation in his address. Adding an international perspective, Prof. Gali Alrajafi from Universitas Muhammadiyah Lampung, Indonesia, encouraged global collaboration in educational practices.
The keynote speaker, Prof. Danilo V. Rogayan Jr., MAEd, shared valuable insights into the principles of OBE syllabus design. He highlighted strategies for developing higher order thinking skills, aligning assessments with learning outcomes, and leveraging AI tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Co-Pilot for syllabus creation. Prof. Rogayan also emphasized the importance of integrating the World Economic Forumโs top 10 skills for 2025 into course syllabi to prepare students for future workforce demands.
Participants engaged in a vibrant open forum, where issues such as institutional evaluation and the integration of sustainability concepts were discussed. The webinar concluded with an awarding ceremony and closing remarks from Ms. Rosel O. Onesa, OIC Dean of the College of Computer Studies, who commended the dedication of participants and organizers.
With this successful event, CSPC continues to solidify its commitment toacademic excellence and innovation. Faculty members are now set to revise and refine their course syllabi, ensuring alignment with OBE principles and the demands of the modern educational landscape.
