VP for Research, Innovation and Collaboration

The Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Collaboration (VPRIC) endeavors to advance regional and national development by institutionalizing and integrating research-based programs across all academic units of the College. It seeks to enhance the quality of life of its stakeholders through demand-driven research initiatives, responsive extension services, and sustainable production and auxiliary services.

The core functions of the Office of the VPRIC are anchored on two fundamental pillars:

Research & Innovation โ€“ Advances, institutionalizes, and sustains research program that generate evidence-based knowledge, innovative applications, technologies, and practices. Through a forward-thinking strategy, the office provides solutions to societal needs and ensures the officeโ€™s crucial role in transcending its service through responsive extension initiatives and sustaining programs that promote inclusive growth and community empowerment. Under this pillars are the core offices namely:

    1. Research Development Services Offices
    2. Extension and Community Services Office
    3. Production and Auxiliary Services
    4. Technology Transfer Office

Collaboration โ€“ Forges strategic and strong partnerships and linkages among government agencies, industries, academic institutions, and communities. This also focus on the commitment to pursuing externally funded research thereby expanding opportunities for scholarly advancement contributing to national and global research landscapes. Under this pillar are the six (6) centers namely:

    1. AI Research Center for Community Development
    2. Center for Futures Energy and Sustainable Technology
    3. Center for Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight
    4. Center for Research in Integrative Social & Special Sciences and Policy
    5. Center for Rinconada Culture and Arts
    6. Rinconada Center for Environmental Sustainability

Functions of the Office

The operation of the offices under the research, innovation, and collaboration cluster is under the direct supervision of the VPRIC who shall perform the following functions:

  1. Secure and maintain CHED institutional sustainability assessment (ISA) certificate;
  2. Secure that 100% of the faculty of the College have an output in Research, Extension, and Production every year and that the same was implemented showing the effect to the community, and establish research journal in the College and in every Campus recognized by CHED and international community as referred with regular publication;
  3. Spearhead the development of the overall RDE agenda and programs in consonance within the philosophy, vision, mission, goals and objectives of the College;
  4. Formulate policy recommendations to enhance the RDE program implementations;
  5. Facilitate the conduct of review, evaluation and dissemination of RDE programs to determine their level of performative vis-avis expected targets and outputs;
  6. Ensure to protect creative works of all the faculty and personnel of the College by establishing patent center;
  7. Ensure to establish a research culture in the College that research should be a daily activity of the faculty and personnel;
  8. Submit progress reports to the College President and College RIC Council indicating the accomplishment, problems and the recommendations in the implementation of the RDE programs of the College;
  9. Coordinate with the Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Vice President for Administration and Finance concerning the implementation of the RDE programs and projects of the College;
  10. Represent the College President in any fora involving RDE programs and projects as may be delegated; and
  11. Perform other duties and functions as delegated by the College President.
