CSPC Recognized by BJMP Region V for Advancing Educational Opportunity for PDLS

Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) received a recognition from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Office V during the celebration of the 35th BJMP Region V Anniversary, held at the Legazpi Convention Center, Legazpi City, Albay.

The recognition highlighted CSPC’s commitment to the “College Education Behind Bars” initiative, particularly in strengthening educational opportunities and support services for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

Among CSPC’s contributions are the enhancement of educational opportunities for PDLs through the College Education Behind Bars (CEBB) Program, supporting their continued academic pursuits and promoting education as a pathway toward personal development and rehabilitation.

CSPC also contributed to strengthening jail-based education through Project Silid-Aklat, which aims to improve PDLs’ access to library resources, reading materials, and literacy programs.

The College Education Behind Bars initiative was introduced at CSPC through the College of Computer Studies (CCS) through the efforts of former Extension Coordinator Mrs. Josefina H. Llagas, whose initiative helped establish opportunities for PDLs to access education and learning resources.

The award was received by Dr. Luningning Q. Bregala, Chief Administrative Officer, together with Ms. Hazel R. Aquino, RSW, MSW, ECSO Staff.

Through its continued partnership with BJMP Region V, CSPC remains committed to extending education beyond the campus and supporting initiatives that provide meaningful learning opportunities, literacy development, and empowerment for PDLs.
