CSPC-CAS strengthens Academic Unity through “CAS Academic Synergy 2025”

The CSPC-College of Arts and Sciences successfully held CAS Academic Synergy 2025 with the theme “Unifying Curriculum, VMGO, and Classroom Empowerment” on October 17, 2025, at the CSPC Theater and Guidance Office.

The event brought together CAS faculty members, program chairs, and stakeholders to realign the College’s curriculum, Vision-Mission-Goals-Objectives (VMGO), and teaching practices with institutional and national education standards.

In the opening program, Dr. Amado A. Oliva Jr., SUC President III, extended his message of support to the activity, which was delivered on his behalf by Mr. Koko Astibe, Executive Assistant to the President. Dr. Jocelyn O. Jintalan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, likewise conveyed her inspirational message through a recorded audio-visual presentation, emphasizing the administration’s full support for academic synergy and collaborative curriculum reform.

CAS Dean Dr. Marlon S. Pontillas opened the program by emphasizing unity in direction and purpose, stating that “the strength of CAS lies in the coherence of its curriculum, its guiding vision, and the empowerment of its classrooms.”

A keynote lecture titled “Negotiating Power and Resistance: A CDA Perspective on Classroom Discourse” was delivered by Dr. Maria Cristina P. Bustamante, Dean of Universidad de Sta. Isabel’s College of Arts, Sciences, Teacher Education, Social Work, and Music. Her talk offered valuable insights on fostering inclusive and empowering classroom dialogue.

The program also featured a curriculum review for the Bachelor in Human Services (BHumServ) and a VMGO Workshop facilitated by Mr. Dennis Rañon, which guided participants in refining CAS’s goals and institutional direction.

The activity concluded with a Synthesis and Commitment-Setting Session, where participants affirmed their dedication to continuous improvement and academic integrity.

Through CAS Academic Synergy 2025, the College reaffirmed its commitment to collaborative governance and transformative education, proving that unity of purpose is the foundation of lasting academic growth.
