Luna clinches top spot in Regional Data Reporting Contest

Paul David Luna, a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics student CSPC, emerged as the champion in the โ€œReport It Right: The Data Reporting Contestโ€ held on September 17, 2025, at Bicol University (BU).

Luna bested other contenders, including representatives from local government units, in this on-the-spot contest that challenged participants to craft well-structured press releases using official statistics. He outshone the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Presentacion, Camarines Sur, which secured second place, and LGU Naga City, which landed third.

The contest was a highlight of the 2025 Regional Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Convention and Data Festival, organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office V in partnership with Bicol University. Carrying the theme โ€œBuilding Agile, Resilient, and Future-Ready Filipino Communities through Data-Driven Systems,โ€ the event underscored the critical role of data-driven storytelling in journalism and policymaking.

Lunaโ€™s victory not only showcased the growing role of students in advancing statistical communication but also highlighted CSPCโ€™s commitment to producing future-ready professionals equipped with both analytical and communication skills.
