Dr. Marlon S. Pontillas, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), has successfully published his extension paper titled โ€œEmpowering Voices: A Three-Year Intervention to Reduce Public Speaking Anxiety among ESL Learnersโ€ in the Journal of Social and Scientific Education (Vol. 2, No. 3, pp. 226โ€“236). The paper is accessible online at https://doi.org/10.58230/josse.v2i3.359.

The publication outlines a structured, research-based intervention program to reduce public speaking anxiety among English as a Second Language (ESL) learners.
Implemented at CSPC and its partner institution, Zeferino Arroyo High School, the three-year program, anchored on the Popsispeak framework, spanned progressive phases: โ€œSpeak Up!โ€ (2022), โ€œSpeak Out!โ€ (2023), and โ€œSpeak Your Voice!โ€ (2024).

Through impromptu speaking drills, peer collaboration, and continuous feedback, the program significantly reduced public speaking anxiety and improved learnersโ€™ confidence, fluency, and delivery skills. Findings confirm that experiential and supportive learning approaches are highly effective in overcoming communication barriers.
Dr. Pontillas emphasized that the program not only enhances academic and professional communication but also contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by promoting inclusivity, employability, and learner empowerment.

This publication further cements CSPCโ€™s commitment to impactful research and extension programs that respond to institutional and community needs. It showcases the role of education in building confidence, competence, and future-ready graduates.
