CSPC student-researchers excel in 5th International Undergraduate Research Congress

Student-researchers from Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges made a remarkable impact at the 5th International Undergraduate Research Congress (IURC) held on June 26โ€“27, 2025, at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte.

Two CSPC research teams earned top awards in the undergraduate research competition. Winning 2nd Best Abstract under the Agriculture Track was the study titled โ€œDevelopment and Utilization of Plant-Based Noodles from Sweet Plantain Blossom and Mulberry Leavesโ€ by Cheenie Criszel D. Abanes, Renzelle B. Dait, Angelica C. Daza, and Lynnel C. Quiรฑano from the College of Technical and Developmental Education, with Dr. Michelle Lomeda-Junio as adviser.

Meanwhile, the research โ€œTollโ€“Based Parking Lot Detection Using YOLOv9 and Image Thresholdingโ€ by Selwyn Kent.B. Oรฑedo, Arjun L. Dimanarig, and John Mark A. Pajenago from the College of Computer Studies, under the guidance of Mr. Joseph Jessie S. Oรฑate, won 1st Best Abstract under the Mathematical, Information, and Computing Sciences Track.

The Congress was hosted by MMSU and co-organized by CSPC, Quirino State University (QSU), Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC), and Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC), with participation from international institutions including Han Chiang University College of Communication (Malaysia), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR, Malaysia), and Politeknik Negeri Padang (Indonesia).

These achievements underscore CSPCโ€™s strong commitment to academic excellence and its dedication to cultivating globally competitive, research-driven learners equipped to lead and innovate on the international stage.
