Dr. Pontillas bags 3rd place in National Extension Conference 2025

Dr. Marlon S. Pontillas, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, earned 3rd Place during the National Extension Conference 2025, held on May 21–23 at the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi, Albay.

His award-winning paper, titled “Empowering Voices: A Three-Year Series of Research-Based Extension Activities for Public Speaking Enhancement,” showcased an impactful initiative aimed at reducing public speaking anxiety among ESL learners and educators.

The study featured a structured series of workshops— “Speak Up!” (2022), “Speak Out!” (2023), and “Speak Your Voice!” (2024)—implemented in collaboration with partner schools, notably Zeferino Arroyo High School.

Themed “Futures Thinking in Extension: Fostering Resilient Communities in a Changing World,” the conference gathered extensionists from across the nation to share best practices and innovations that drive community empowerment.

Dr. Pontillas’ recognition stands as a testament to CSPC’s growing contribution to research-based extension and community development.
