BHumServ Faculty leads Extension Activity on Parenting in Sta. Justina, Buhi

In its continuous pursuit of community engagement and family empowerment, the Bachelor in Human Services (BHumServ) program of the CSPC-College of Arts and Sciences conducted a meaningful extension activity titled “From Roots to Wings: The Role of Parents in Their Child’s Development” on May 7, 2025 at Sta. Justina, Buhi, Camarines Sur.

The program, which emphasized the importance of parental involvement in child development, featured a talk session on Gentle Parenting led by Ms. Leny O. Figuracion, RGC, a faculty member of the BHumServ program. Parents in the community were enlightened on nurturing approaches that foster empathy, respect, and emotional intelligence among children.

Key officials also took part in the event. Ma. Francia S. Dechavez, RGC, MAEd, Program Chairperson of BHumServ, delivered the opening remarks. At the same time, Dr. Marlon S. Pontillas, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, gave an inspirational message underscoring the vital role of parents as both roots and wings of their children.

The activity also featured a simultaneous session with children, ensuring that while parents were learning, their children were equally engaged.

Ms. Abbygail N. Jardinel, RPm, who served as the Lady of Ceremonies, hosted the session.

This initiative marks another milestone for the BHumServ program, which aims to strengthen family and community ties and translate academic expertise into real-life impact through extension services.
