Three faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) have successfully published a research paper in the International Journal of Educational Studies, an internationally refereed journal.
Dr. Marlon S. Pontillas, Karla Mae S. Sallao, MBA, and Mr. Kharl Vincent C. Requinala, LPT, authored the study โQualitative Insights on Arts and Sciences Faculty Evaluation from Students in a Philippine State College,โ which was featured in Volume 8, Issue 3 of the journal.
The study explores student evaluations of teaching (SETs) at CAS over two academic years and aims to assess the qualitative feedback provided by students during four evaluation periods.
Using content analysis, the researchers examined open-ended responses to uncover both the strengths and areas for improvement in faculty performance.
Findings reveal that students recognize several key strengths among CAS faculty members, including the relevance of course content to real-world practice, the facultyโs understanding and empathy, instructional competence, and the ability to organize and communicate lessons effectively.
However, the study also highlights areas needing development, such as the pace of teaching, availability of supplemental learning materials, consistency in class schedules, and the quality and timeliness of feedback.
The authors recommend enhanced training programs for faculty that focus on adaptive pacing, empathetic interaction, and effective communication.
Additionally, they emphasize the importance of institutional support to strengthen feedback mechanisms and provide more learning resources to better meet students’ needs.
This recent publication affirms the CAS facultyโs commitment to research-based instructional improvement and demonstrates the collegeโs growing contribution to international academic discourse.
