AB English Program Chair publishes Code-Switching Research in Web of Science-Indexed Journal

Dan Fereth B. Fajardo, MAEd, Program Chair of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies, has published an institutional research paper titled “Code-Switching Dynamics of College Instructors in Online English Language Learning.” The study is featured in Volume 21, No. 2 of the Malaysian Journal of ELT Research, a journal indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection: Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI).

The study employs a phenomenological research design to explore the types and functions of code-switching used by instructors in online English Language Learning (ELL) classes. Fajardo’s study underscores the importance of code-switching in supporting bilingual and multilingual education and in creating inclusive learning spaces that enhance student engagement and understanding.
