The devastating massive flooding across many parts in Rinconada area in Camarines Sur during Tropical Depression Kristine in October 2024 left many unprepared, highlighting the urgent need for disaster readiness. Recognizing this, the College of Tourism, Hospitality, and Business Management (CTHBM) took the initiative to organize the Water Search and Rescue Operation Training (WASAR) 2025, a two-day theoretical and practical training held on March 7-8, 2025 at the College Gymnasium which aims to to equip students and faculty with essential survival and rescue skills.
The event, themed “In the Eye of Danger: Swift Water, Strong Rescues,” was spearheaded by the ๐๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐๐ – ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐น ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น ๐๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ โ๐๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ฝ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ (๐๐๐๐ฆ) in collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard Special Operations Group-Bicol.
The training covered critical rescue techniques, survival strategies during floods, and emergency response measures, ensuring that participants are better prepared to protect themselves and assist others during water-related disasters.

The WASAR 2025 training not only reinforced disaster preparedness among students and faculty but also emphasized the importance of community resilience in facing future calamities.
