CSPC benchmarks Best Practices in Higher Education Institutions across NCR and CAR

A team of academic leaders from Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) conducted a benchmarking activity across several top higher education institutions from March 9 to 14, 2025. The institutions visited were National University, the University of Makati, the University of the Philippines-Baguio, and Benguet State University.

The delegation, composed of key administrators, explored best practices in grading systems, instructional material policies, faculty development programs, and student retention strategies.

The visit highlighted various grading models, such as the zero-based grading system and the standardized transmutation table, which ensure fair and transparent student evaluations. Discussions also focused on instructional material development, with institutions implementing external validation processes and offering royalty incentives for faculty authors.

Moreover, faculty scholarship and professional growth were emphasized, with universities providing structured international study programs, workload adjustments, and financial support for academic advancement.

In addition to academic policies, the benchmarking activity examined human resource practices, particularly faculty monitoring, employee incentives, and performance evaluations. Institutions showcased innovative strategies such as biometric attendance systems, structured personnel movement cycles, and industry collaborations to align educational outcomes with workforce demands.

Furthermore, the team was introduced to engagement programs promoting holistic well-being, including annual training, research grants, and merit-based recognitions.

With the insights gained from this benchmarking activity, CSPC aims to integrate and adapt these best practices to enhance institutional policies, improve faculty and student support systems, and elevate the overall quality of education at the college.

The benchmarking team included esteemed CSPC officials: Dr. Amado Oliva Jr., Dr. Jocelyn Jintalan, Dr. Challiz Omorog, Dr. Marlon Pontillas, Dr. Patrick Gerard Paulino, Dr. Kenny Niรฑo Tagum, Ms. Rosel Onesa, Dr. Maria Joy Iglesia, Engr.
