CTDE hosts webinar for teaching internship readiness

The recently concluded Action Research Webinar, titled “Teaching in Action” โ€“ an Action Research Seminar for Teaching Internship Readiness designed for CTDE Practice Teachers, was held on February 5, 2025, via Zoom. The event provided a valuable platform for exploring the role of research in education and professional practice. As the 4th-year students of CTDE prepare for deployment to their respective cooperating schools for their teaching internship, and as part of their requirement in the course Prof Educ 16 (Teaching Internship Off-Campus), the event emphasized the significance of action research as a tool for addressing challenges, implementing solutions, and enhancing best practices in teaching.

The webinar commenced with a warm welcome from the moderator, Ms. Joechiel B. Selleza, who emphasized the importance of continuous learning and research-driven improvements in education. Participants were encouraged to engage actively and follow key protocols to ensure a smooth and interactive session.

The Dean of the College of Technological and Developmental Education, Dr. Patrick Gerard A. Paulino, delivered the opening remarks, setting the stage for the discussions ahead. He highlighted the institutionโ€™s commitment to fostering research excellence and the practical applications of action research in improving teaching methodologies.

The sessionโ€™s main highlight was the presentation by Dr. Marlon S. Pontillas, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, who served as the resource speaker. Dr. Pontillas shared insights into the methodologies and principles of action research, emphasizing its role in problem-solving and innovation in education. His talk provided student teachers with a comprehensive understanding of how research can drive positive change in their professional practice. Additionally, Dr. Pontillas provided a list of possible topics for action research, which are beneficial to students in conceptualizing their future studies.

The session ended on a note of encouragement, inspiring teaching interns to integrate action research into their teaching practices for continuous improvement.
