CAS Conducts Mobility Program in Indonesia

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) successfully conducted its International Faculty and Student Mobility Program in collaboration with the English Department of Politeknik Negeri Padang (PNP), Indonesia, on December 9-20, 2024. CAS sent Mr. Dan Fereth B. Fajardo and Ms. Nicky Gem M. Rivera as exchange faculty members while one AB English Language student, Ms. Sandara H. Reyes, participated as exchange student.

During the program, Mr. Fajardo and Ms. Rivera met with PNP officials, delivered lectures and networked with fellow lecturers from PNP. Meanwhile, Ms. Reyes attended classes at PNPโ€™s English Department and engaged in meaningful interactions with PNP students.

To formalize the mobility program, Dr. Marlon S. Pontillas, Dean of CSPC CAS, and Dr. Martini, Head of PNPโ€™s English Department, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The MOA specifically covered the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies program and the courses English for Translation and Broadcasting and English for Business and Professional Communication. Prior to the onsite mobility activities, Mr. Fajardo and Ms. Rivera had been delivering virtual lectures to PNP classes since the beginning of the semester.

The International Faculty and Student Mobility Program forms part of the continuing effort of CSPC to strengthen its internationalization engagements. It follows a similar mobility program conducted last year under the College of Computer Studies. This program reaffirms CSPCโ€™s commitment to PNP, as faculty and student exchanges were among the key activities outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two institutions on March 1, 2022.

The program aims to provide CSPC faculty members and students with opportunities to immerse themselves in the academic environment of the host institution and to benchmark on its best practices. This initiative underscores CSPCโ€™s dedication to fostering global academic collaboration and enhancing the professional development of its stakeholders.
