NCCT Holds Dialogue with Content Creators in Legazpi City

On September 19, 2024, the National Council for Childrenโ€™s Television (NCCT), an agency under the Department of Education, held a “Dialogue with Content Creators” in Legazpi City, led by Ms. Desideria Mance Atienza.

The event focused on equipping content creators with the necessary tools and knowledge to produce and promote child-friendly media content in the Philippines. Key discussions revolved around the Child-Friendly Content Standards (CFCS) and the Media Monitoring Scorecard, both essential in guiding local TV stations, content creators, and communication students towards aligning their work with child-friendly principles.

The dialogue also emphasized the legal requirements under RA No. 8370, or the Children’s Television Act of 1997, reminding participants of their social responsibility in promoting child-friendly programming.

The event was well-attended by Bicolano content creators, local TV station staff, government employees, educators, and communication students, including a delegation from the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC). Representing CSPC were Ms. Gigi V. Severo, Dr. Noel R. Volante, Mr. Ejay F. Barcinilla, Ms. Nicky Gem M. Rivera, and Mr. Jo Vincent T. Bardaje. Notably, Mr. Barcinilla and Ms. Rivera received tokens during the event’s activities, while Dr. Volante was recognized as one of the most active participants.

The dialogue served as a successful platform to reinforce the critical role content creators play in shaping the future of childrenโ€™s television in the country.
