Five (5) instructors, including two (2) Science Research assistants from the Center for Research and Development, participated in the 3-Day Training Workshop on Scale Development Techniques in Social Science from May 27-28 at the Castle Peak Hotel in Cebu City. The workshop aimed to enhance the participants’ skills in creating and validating measurement scales, crucial for conducting rigorous research in social sciences. Mr. Ejay F. Barcinilla, the Focal Person of the CSPC Center for Social Science Research and Policy, was among the attendees.
The workshop covered essential topics such as scale development and validation through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), providing the participants with robust methodologies for ensuring the reliability and validity of their scales. Additionally, the training addressed the fair use of AI-assisted tools in scale development, offering insights into how modern technology can be ethically integrated into the research process.
The training was instrumental in equipping CSPC faculty and staff with advanced techniques that will significantly contribute to the quality and impact of their research in social science.
