March 7-8, 2024, | San Roque, Bato, Camarines Sur

To bolster grade 12 studentsโ€™ knowledge of basic statistics skills, the CSPC College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), under its BS Mathematics and BS Applied Mathematics programs, conducted the first leg of its extension activity, Statistics and Probability Activities for Reinforcing Knowledge (SPARK), on March 7-8, 2024, at San Roque, Bato, Camarines Sur.
ย
Seven math core faculty members taught more than 140 students under the Accountancy and Business Management (ABM), TVL-Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM), and TVL-Computer Systems Servicing (CSS) strands throughout the extension activity.
ย
The topics discussed during the first half were Mathematics as a Tool: Statistical Inquiry (Liezl Namoro, MAEd), Describing Data with Graphs (Jiel Mark Jagmis, MSc), Measures of Central Tendency (Romer Beltran-Yu, MAEd), and Measures of Relative Position (Rowel Ramos, MAMAthEd).
ย
During the second half of the event, students were taught about Measures of Dispersion (by Alex Ralph Nieva, MSc), Statistics Using MS Excel (by Mark Ronel R. Ocbian, MAEd), and Statistics Using Open-Source Statistical Software (by Francis Gerard Magtibay, MSc).
ย
The event was conducted in partnership with the Center for Extension and Community Services through the CAS Extension Coordinator, Daisylen Alano, MAED. Three student extensionists from the League of Elite Math Enthusiasts (LEMEN) also assisted during the event, namely Paul David Luna (President), Edward Sabaldica (VP-External), and Cielo Nepomuceno (Director for Extension Services).
