The recent collaborative discussion held on February 13, 2024, at the Incubation Center, Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, Nabua, Camarines Sur, was a resounding success. Led by Ms. Cherry Lyn M. Odsinada, Director of BCIEERD, and supported by DOST V and DOST Camarines Sur, the session focused on exploring collaborative opportunities to advance research and development in the vibrant Bicol Region.
Key participants included Ms. Patrocinio N. Felizmenio, the Provincial S&T Director and DOST V iSTART Focal Person, alongside DOST V personnel Ms. Maria Regina Yabillo and Mr. Ariel Joshua J. Madrid. Their expertise greatly contributed to the discussions.
Additionally, representatives from CSPC, including Dr. Teresita B. Salazar, Dr. Harold Jan Terano, Dr. Yolanda Santorcas, Engr. Jose Eduardo B. Cerillo II, Engr. Martin D. Valeras, Jr., and Dr. Challiz D. Omorog, along with dedicated staff members, provided valuable insights, particularly on the proposed research and development initiative focusing on utilizing water desalination wastewater to produce food-grade salt. This proposal aligns with the objectives of the DOST iSTART Program, emphasizing sustainable practices in food production.
The collaboration holds immense potential for significant advancements in sustainable food production practices within the Bicol Region. By leveraging the collective expertise and resources of DOST V, DOST-Camarines Sur, and BCIEERD, we are poised to make a meaningful impact on the region’s development trajectory.
