BHumServ Core Faculty Attend International Conference on Mental Health Advocacy

Mrs. Leny O. Figuracion, together with Mrs. Eva C. Sasuluya and Mrs. Ma. Francia S. Dechavez, BHumServ Core Faculty, attended the 58th Annual National and 2023 International Conference organized by the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association, Inc. The event took place from May 15-17, 2023, at the University Theatre, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.

The three-day conference highlighted the role of mental health advocates in providing essential programs for students and the workforce. On the first day, discussions revolved around the history and progress of the guidance counseling profession, including new innovations for interventions with diverse students. 

The second day focused on mental health initiatives in various environments, including workplaces and technical-vocational institutions. On the final day, participants explored strategies for handling suicidal clients, emphasizing skills for gatekeepers and the use of tele-mental health for suicide prevention.

Mrs. Figuracion, Mrs. Sasuluya, and Mrs. Dechavez gained valuable insights into mental health care and its implementation in educational and professional settings, which they aim to apply in their roles at CSPC.
