CSPC-CRCA 2022 short film competitions a success

Atotal of 50 teams of CPSC students participated in the Short Film Category of the Sining Biswal Competitions of the Center for Rinconada Culture and the Arts. The said short film contest aimed to demonstrate or hone the studentry’s storytelling, cinematography and acting skills amidst the National Arts Month 2022 celebrations.


CSPC students were encouraged to form a 6-man team of cast and crew to make 5 to 10 minute films abiding with the theme “Pangiturogan: Aspirations of Hope”. The competition was highly engaged upon by CSPCeans with an approximate total of 300 students participating in filmmaking activities which included scriptwriting, screenplay, directing, videography, musical scoring, and editing skills. The rules for the competition were strict on the production and content of the films not allowing unauthorized members and non-original, inappropriate or copyrighted footage. Although a coach was allowed for supervision and guidance. The students were given from January 28 to February 17, 2022 to register and the deadline for entries was set on February 18, 2022. Submitted films were automatically accepted as entries to the 2022 National Arts Month Short Film Festival.


Judges for the competition were Mel Cortez, a director at ImaginePh and former Creative Director at Ateneo Film Society; Erik del Rosario, Creative Director at University of Saint Anthony; Sean Lawrence E. Elevado, a segment producer and TV Director for Short Content of ABS-CBN Naga. The winners were announced via Facebook on February 28, 2022.


First place went to “La Roca” as directed by Christian Carl M. Daza with Rosemarie Termulo, Jurah Ibarbia, Al Francis Adrisola, and Maurice Ibarlin of Segeng Productions; the team winning a cash prize of P10,000.00. Second place went to “Pagkayod sa Limos na Pangarap” from Team Padayon, and as directed by Chasfer Casin with Meca Angel Baal, Trisha Anne Muñoz, Shervel Sasota, Arolle Shay Bayrante, and Jhasmine Segui; winning P7,000.00. Third Place went to “Alpana: the Garbage/ Dream Collector” directed by Wenreme B. Arines with Monique de Lima, Ma. Fatima Pili & Kristine Aira Ponciano, and Kristine Peteza; winning P5,000.00.


The People’s Choice Award went to “Muraw-muraw” with an all-female cast and crew directed by Trixia Kate Morata with Cleofe Salando, Christine Nanale, Brenda Ampongan, Ma. Kyryll Bebis, and Julienne Anne Therese Coralde who won P3,000.00. The Best Cinematography also went to La Roca winning P3,000.00. The Best Short Film Poster went to “Buradol: Lumulupad Kaiba ka Pangarap” by Humana Officia Production with Olirie Bañaria, Steven Orbon, Ricsan Soroan, Lindsey Salvadora, Ma. Yzabelle Ramos and Ma. Bernadette Trinidad winning P3,000.00.
