CSPC breaks ground on broadcast baseband and radio frequency equipment

Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), in partnership with Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC), broke ground on the Broadcast Baseband and Radio-Frequency (RF) Equipment, a new landmark for CSPC Blended Learning Project.

The groundbreaking marks the first construction milestone of a 200 – 300-foot tower in CSPC designed to operate within the vicinity of the campus around 300-meter radius and operating at 87.5 MHz.

It will be located at the ground between the gymnasium and Villafuerte Hall, representing the next evolution in workplace design that helps reinvent how today’s workforce collaborates in the institution’s expanding creative and technology innovation.

According to Dr. Charlito P. Cadag, College President, “This state-of-the-art tower is in response to the neo-normal challenges faced by the education sector.”

“CSPC in its pivot towards excellence and transformation, decided to maximize the available resources of the institution through efficient utilization of the Campus radio station. Thus, proposed the said installation of the said 5KW transmitter and online livestreaming services for the school’s flexible learning program,” he added.

Prof. Hejie A. Dimabogte, Station Manager, also added that enhancing and optimizing for efficient utilization of the Campus radio 87.5 FM is necessary. This likewise is an effectual system for delivery of education to larger numbers of people not only in Rinconada area but also in Central Camarines Sur, Partido area, and Albay.

This project built on design fineness has an approved budget of 50 million pesos from the institution’s Communication Network and other Communication Facilities approved budget for C/Y 2020.

The Broadcast Baseband and Radio- Frequency (RF) Equipment will include a dangle and black box and will provide six (6) channels per college.

Dr. Cadag also stated in his message that having such technology will not only cater the needs of the students but also other stakeholders of mass communication information and communication that is accessible in the comforts of their homes.

In addition, he also broadcasted the provision of high-end laptops to regular and contractual faculty members of CSPC which has an allocated budget of six (6) million pesos and another two (2) million pesos for the provision of tablets to 400 highly-marginalized students to help them cope up with the demands of online learning in the efforts of the school’s mantra of “No students will be left behind.”

Meanwhile, the said installation was through the effort of Prof. Dimabogte with the support of Ms. Shirley M. Illo, Budget Officer, Mrs. Marites A. Bermal, Procurement Officer, and Dr. Cadag.

Expected start of installation and utilization is on 2021.
