CSPC bagged once again Saringaya Award 2016

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Regional Office V conferred to Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, for the second time, the Saringaya Award for an Academe in the 16th Saringaya Awards and 26th Eagle Quiz Champions on June 27, 2016 at Casablanca Convention Center, Legazpi City.

The Saringaya Award is the highest and most prestigious regional environment award in the DENR’s pursuit to address environmental abuse and promote progress and sustainable development. “Saringaya,” is based from a local dialect means “Masaringaya an kabuhayan” or bountiful forest.

This year 2016, the criteria founded on 5 pillars of good environmental governance, i.e., environmental protection, conservation and rehabilitation, sustainability of the project and socio-economic and environmental impacts. These served as the cornerstone to the open category for entry qualification. From the thirty nine (39) nominees, 22 were pre-selected and only nine agencies from different sectors (individuals, industries, local government units, and creative people’s organization) received a 90% passing rate and qualified as Saringaya Awardees.

It can be recalled that CSPC was also awarded as Saringaya Awardee on June 30, 2014. Other awards received by the College in relation to its eco-friendly advocacy were: 2nd Place, Best Eco-Friendly School, Red Orchid Awardee, and Best Smoke Free Government Office.

As a mark of its eco-friendly advocacy, CSPC received a Certificate of Recognition and a 16-inch trophy specially designed for the 16th Saringaya Awards. Dr. Dulce F. Atian, the College President, was represented by Engr. Seth B. Barandon, Research Director, Ms. April Z. Luzon, Planning Officer and Dr. Amado A. Oliva, Extension Director. The awarding ceremony was graced by the newly appointed DENR Regional Director, Ms. Crisanta Marlene P. Rodriquez.
