Center for Research and Development Units

[lab_heading title_tag=”H3″ title=”Units under the Center for Research and Development, and Their Functions”][/lab_heading][lab_heading title_tag=”H4″ title=”Knowledge Management Services”][/lab_heading]The Knowledge Management Services manages a well-organized and directed program of the institution’s knowledge programs. It shall consist of the science research specialists/assistants, management information system personnel, college statistician and pool of writers in various disciplines. It is headed by the Knowledge Management Coordinator that also acts as the Institutional Research Coordinator.

Functions of the Knowledge Management Services:

  1. Accepts research proposals in its prescribed format which are aligned to the research and development agenda.
  2. Prepares the memorandum of agreement (MOA) for both external and institutional funded researches.
  3. Receives and recommends participations of accepted papers for presentations in recognized conferences, fora and symposia in the regional, national, and international levels.
  4. Monitor regularly and provide database of the approved researches.
  5. Prepare and organize the research activities such as the in-house review of researches, capability building, seminars, workshops, trainings and the likes.
  6. Mobilizes participation in research exhibits/ posters of research outputs in exhibits and competitions.
  7. Identify research outputs for utilization and technology transfer e.g. instruction, extension, production, policy enhancements, and patent applications for research outputs and inventions.
  8. Provide documents and information to the Quality Assurance Office during the AACCUP accreditation, ISO, ISA, SUC levelling, DBM requirements, CHED requirements, and others.
  9. Packages documents relevant to various accreditation such as AACCUP, ISO, ISA, SUC levelling, DBM requirements, CHED requirements, and others.
  10. Performs and manages the statistical computation, presentation, and interpretation of both the institutional and externally funded R&D projects.
  11. Assists and helps faculty-researchers in developing research proposals, data gathering and in preparing completed researches for publications in recognized and reputable journals.

[lab_heading title_tag=”H4″ title=”Intellectual Property Management”][/lab_heading]The Intellectual Property Management unit manages the application of research outputs and inventions for patent, utility models, industrial designs, and the likes. It shall be headed by the IPM Coordinator and supported by office staff.

Functions of the Intellectual Property Management:

  1. Promotes technology transfer, policies and procedures relevant to property protection of research outputs.
  2. Reviews, negotiate and approve all agreements that convey or affect the college’s right to intellectual property.
  3. Processes patent, copyright, trademark, utility model, industrial design and other protection applications and registrations of research outputs.
  4. Conducts IP awareness and other activities related to intellectual property protection.
  5. Provides database of research outputs granted and applied for intellectual property protection.

[lab_heading title_tag=”H4″ title=”Research Ethics Board”][/lab_heading]A special board organized to ensure that the conduct of researches involving human participants is in accordance with the ethical principles. It shall be composed of the Research Ethics Chair, members of the board/representatives, secretary and office staff.

Functions of the Research Ethics Board:

  1. Reviews and monitors research involving human participants, in order to ensure that ethical principles govern the research.
  2. Monitors the ethical conduct of human research through inspection, on-site audit and observation of on-going researches.
  3. Approves or declines research proposals.
  4. Encourages education in research ethics through a conduct of seminar and other capability building relevant to the understanding of the ethical principles and other policies/guidelines governing the conduct of human research.

[lab_heading title_tag=”H4″ title=”Research Publication Management”][/lab_heading]The Research Publication Management sets the rules and regulations concerning dissemination of research results through publications and other similar knowledge to the public. This is headed by the Research Publications Management Coordinator. This unit shall be supported by the editorial board, staff writers, proofreaders, circulation staff lay-out artist, photographer, illustrator, and an encoder.

Functions of the Research Publication Management:

  1. Manages the publication of institutional journal, RIPPLES, as well as the newsletter “Aniningal” publication of the CRD’s activities and accomplishments.
  2. Invites qualified referees as reviewers of research articles for publications in the RIPPLES.
  3. Manages the process of peer-reviewing of qualified papers for publication to the journal.
  4. Prepares and publish the Book of Abstracts of research articles presented in the In-House Review of Researches.
  5. Manages and accepts papers for presentations in conferences and fora sponsored by the CRD.
  6. Prepares and submit the newsletter, book of abstracts, IEC materials and institutional journal for on-line publication in the CSPC web page.
  7. Assists faculty-researchers in preparing completed researches for publications in recognized and reputable journals.
