CSPC presents Ogidon Award in Research Colloquium

A virtual presentation of completed research papers from teaching and non-teaching personnel of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) through the Center for Research and Development (CRD) titled “Institutional R&D Colloquium and Ogidon Awards” via zoom was conducted on December 21, 2020.

According to the CRD, the institutional colloquium is annually conducted to bring the researchers of the institution in a forum. The undertaking provided the researchers with an avenue to disseminate their research findings. It shall also determine the utilization of the researcher findings whether it is for dissemination, policy formulation, patient application, extension, or production, and whether the output is a potential technology that is feasible for adoption and verification.

Under Development Category, the study presented by Engr. Kieth Marlon R. Tabal’s research titled “Electronic Nitrogen Deficiency Level Assessment Tool for Rice (Oryza sativa L.) and Maize (Zea mays L.) using Spectrophotometry” won first place. Mr. Elias L. Tomenio’s research titled “Pre-fabricated Ferrocement Wall Panel for Low-Cost Housing Construction” won second place.  Dr. Ian P. Benitez’ study on “Development and Evaluation of ID Generator and Management System” won third place.

Other research studies presented were: Development of CSPC Alumni Tracer System by Mr. Nino Jeffrey L. Luzon; I-SPES: Interactive Solar Power Electric System Simulation by Ms. Shiela Donna B. Sillan; Coco-Squash Spread: A Development Study by Ms. Michelle L. Junio; and Challenges Among Newly Appointed Barangay Secretaries of LGU Nabua (Non-Competing) by Dr. Teresita B. Salazar. Panelists under Category 1 were Dr. Yolanda Castroverde, Dr. Luis O. Amano, and Engr. Christopher Pacardo.

Meanwhile, under the Research Category, the study presented by Dr. Seth B. Barandon titled “Enablers and Barriers to Research Productivity Among Faculty of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges” was awarded first place. The study titled “The Implementation of Strategic Performance Management System in a State College of Camarines Sur” presented by Dr. April Z. Luzon was awarded second place, and the study presented by Engr. Francia H. Tomenio titled “Water Supply System at San Roque Madawon, Nabua, Camarines Sur” was awarded third place.

Along with these winning studies, three other researches were presented namely: “Challenges and Coping Mechanism of Faculty-Researches in CSPC” presented by Dr. Maria Teresa J. Manzano; “Awareness on Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy of Nabua Central Pilot School Teaching Personnel of One Primary School in Nabua, Camarines Sur” presented by Prof. Naneth O. Oida; and “Students Readiness in Taking TESDA National Competency Assessment” presented by Prof. Emilda E. Escolano. In Category 2, panelists were Dr. Viola L. Amano, Dr. Ramona Isabela Ramirez, and Dr. Arlene O. Monsalve.

The aforementioned papers presented competed for the Ogidon Award. This award is an incentive token for exemplary studies in recognition of the CSPC researchers’ contribution of knowledge to the status quo.
