CSPC’s Journey to Universityhood Progresses with Evaluation Visit

Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) welcomed evaluators from Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Central and Regional Offices and visitors from the Committee on Higher and Technical Education (CHTE) of the House of Representatives on July 11 to 13, 2018 during the Joint CHED-CHTE On-site Evaluation Visit relative to the conversion of the College into a university.

Present during the event were Dr. Libertad P. Garcia, Dr. Mary Sylvette T. Gunigundo, Ms. Rita P. Sescar, and Ms. Neriesse Anne B. Casitas of CHED-Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance (OIQAG); Dr. Jaime D.L. Caro of CHED-Technical Panel for Information Technology Education (TPITE); Ms. Jocelyn Balanag of CHED-Legal and Legislative Services (LLS); Dr. George M. Colorado, Dr. Ma. Teresa G. De Alban, Engr. Janet N. Naag, Dr. Jean Salalima-Go, and Mrs. Jean E. Cardiño of CHED-Regional Office No. V (ROV); and Dr. Maria Bernardita A. Palacio, Engr. Andrew Rey M. Belleza, Engr. Geronimo Buenavente, Engr. Gene O. Montaña, Prof. Vicky Ong, and Dr. Nelly Detera of CHED-ROV Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT).

Meanwhile, CHTE was represented by Ms. Frances Melanie U. Mauricio, Ms. Sylvia Chico, and Ms. Josefa Rothel T. Banastao.

Part of the three-day visit was the evaluation on program offerings conducted by RQAT on the following:  Master of Engineering, Master of Arts in Nursing, Master in Business Management, BS Nursing, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Civil Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, BS Electronics Engineering, BS Food Service Management, BS Tourism Management, Teacher Education, BS Information Technology, BS Computer Science, and BS Office Administration. Key officials were also interviewed along the indicators in the CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) 46, s. 2012.  Likewise, the team conducted ocular visit to CSPC Buhi Extension Campus and San Roque Madawon (an extension site) while others had ocular inspection of facilities and learning resources as well as document analysis.

The Joint CHED-CHTE on-site visit was conducted to evaluate the readiness of the College to become Polytechnic State University of Bicol through House Bill No. 5119 filed by Hon. Salvador B. Belaro, Jr. of 1-ANG EDUKASYON Partylist as principal sponsor and Hon. Salvio B. Fortuno, representative of the 5th District of Camarines Sur, as co-sponsor.
