ISA: A Step to Universityhood

The Commission on Higher Education Region V (CHEDRO V) Quality Assurance Team conducted the Institutional Sustainability Assessment (ISA) Coaching Workshop on February 6, 2018 at the CSPC Boardroom.

The coaching workshop covered discussion of CHED memo No. 46, s. 2012: An Overview and the Requirements for Horizontal Typology by Atty. Christian E. Rivero, ES II, CHEDRO V, ISA Framework and ISA Self-Evaluation Documents (SED) by Dr. Ma. Teresa G. De Alban, CEPS, CHEDRO V, SED Writeshop facilated by Dr. Jean Paulette Salalima-Go, ES II, CHEDRO V. The Presentation and Critiquing of Key Result Areas 1 & 5 by ISA Committee Member and CHEDRO V Quality Assurance Team was also conducted.

The coaching workshop culminated with the comprehensive discussion on the ISA Process and the role of CHEDRO in the process by Ms. Jean E. Cardino, ES II, CHEDRO V. The benefits of ISA to HEIs are continual improvement of the quality management system of the institution, an advantage in relation to vertical typology (SUC Leveling for SUCs) under the Institutional Sustainability and Enhancement Criteria, and it may provide institutions the opportunity for international exposure trips using the ISA requirement.

ISA is a quality assurance process that assesses the institutional sustainability of a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in five Key Result Areas: governance and management, quality of teaching and learning; quality of professional exposure, research and creative work/innovation; support for students and relations with the community.

The goal of ISA is to help HEIs develop a culture of quality. It is a moral and legal responsibility of every HEIs to provide quality programs to its students and be efficient and effective through quality systems. Quality programs can be assessed through quality of students and graduates and quality systems can be assessed through tools that show the internal capacity of HEI to translate vision, policy and strategy into quality programs and thereby producing quality results.

An ISA Committee Meeting was also conducted last February 22, 2018 at CSPC Boardroom with Dr. Dulce F. Atian, College President and designated ISA Committees.

ISA is another institutional initiative of Dr. Atian to achieve the CSPC dream of becoming Polytechnic University of Bicol.
