A grandiose festivity highlighting the successful integration of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) marked the 34th Charter Anniversary of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges of Nabua, Camarines Sur last June 30, 2017
Enthused by the theme, “CSPC: An Advocate of Peace and Development in the Age of Internationalization,” the one-day affair concluded the Colleges’ month-long celebration which had its Kick-off on June 10.
A parade around the Poblacion Area of students, muses, faculty, and staff donning traditional Southeast Asian costumes. Subsequently, Dr. Dulce F. Atian, College President, delivered a message inspiring the CSPC community in its special milestone which was followed by the release of doves and balloons to symbolize the College’s thirty-four years of peaceful the quest for excellence and colorful history, respectively. Among the highlights of the activity was the raising of the ASEAN Flag and its ten Member State’s representing CSPC’s support to the principles and awareness of ASEAN solidarity.
The ceremonial launching was assisted by ASEAN Muses and Escorts and the Deans of the different departments in their native attires.
To further uplift the spirit of the celebration, a community singing of “ASEAN Way,” the official anthem of the ASEAN, was performed. In a distinct note, the song was executed with an interpretation of the Makaton language programme which was translated by Doryna Gayle S. Penetrante.
A formal program held at the College Gymnasium was opened by Mr. Ferdinand B. Valencia, Vice-President for Administration. Dr. Atian imparted the Charter Anniversary Message and encouraged CSPCeans to “be confident to think that [they] are capable of being responsive to the realities – and even trials – of maintaining a strong bond with local and international linkages, especially with the ASEAN community.”
“As CSPCeans, we must be proud to know that in spite of the supersonic pace of globalization, we’re still able to be at par with the rest of the nation in attaining the readiness for this new era,” she said.
Dr. Atian also introduced the guest-of-honor, Atty. Lily Freida M. Milla, Director III of Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) International Affairs Office who, through her Keynote Speech, shared numerous opportunities for Colleges and Universities in the ASEAN Community such as CHED-supported regional programs, standing agreements activities hosted by the Commission.
Atty. Milla also provided the assurance of CHED’s support to its stakeholders in mobility programs for today’s integration stage. “We commit ourselves to supporting future programs for a more integrated and borderless region where our people can move freely, thrive, and engage in productive pursuits equipped with skills, qualifications, and competencies of the highest quality and standards,” she said.
An awarding ceremony for Essay-Writing, Slogan-Making, and Photojournalism Contests and Best ASEAN Costumes was held next.
